Are wisdom teeth really that dangerous to keep?
- by Joel Bullard
I had my wisdom teeth pulled when I was 17. They were protruding through my gums in the upper and lower jaws in the back of my mouth, and my oral & maxillofacial surgeon informed me that they could potentially cause serious health issues if I left them in.
Many people debate whether wisdom teeth should be removed. Some say that wisdom teeth should only be removed if they can potentially damage or rearrange their other teeth. While others believe that there is no use for wisdom teeth, so you can get rid of them.
Every patient is different. It is up to the patient if they want to have their wisdom teeth surgically removed, based upon their individual diagnosis given to them by their oral & maxillofacial surgeon.
